Scale recipe ingredients up or down.
To scale a recipe:
The calculator shows the adjusted ingredient amount for your desired serving count.
Scaling formula:
Scaled Amount = Original Amount × (Desired Servings ÷ Original Servings)
This linear scaling works for most recipes. The multiplier (desired ÷ original) is the scaling factor.
Example: A recipe for 4 servings calls for 200g of flour. You need 8 servings.
8 ÷ 4 = 2.0200g × 2.0 = 400gMost recipes scale well, especially soups, stews, and salads. However, baking recipes may need adjustments for leavening agents (baking powder, yeast) when scaling more than 2–3x, as they don't always scale linearly.
When doubling a baking recipe, use the full double of most ingredients but only 1.5x the leavening agent. Also adjust baking time — larger batches may need a lower temperature and longer bake time to cook evenly.
